Our team is passionate about making a difference, and we are looking for a Junior Access Consultant to join us in our mission.

As a Junior Access Consultant, you will play a crucial role in our mission to make environments accessible and inclusive for everyone. You will assist in evaluating the accessibility of buildings, facilities, and public spaces, ensuring they meet regulatory standards and accommodate individuals with various disabilities. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting Accessibility Assessments: You will review building plans and occasionally visit sites to perform detailed evaluations of new structures. This involves assessing physical barriers, such as ramps, door widths, signage, and restrooms, to identify areas that do not comply with accessibility standards.

  • Developing Solutions: You will develop practical and effective solutions to accessibility issues presented throughout the building development process. This can include recommending modifications to building layouts, providing justifications, or advising on best practices for inclusive design.

  • Collaboration and Communication: You will engage with a diverse group of stakeholders, including architects, builders, and building owners. Effective communication is key, as you will explain your findings and recommendations clearly and persuasively to ensure they are understood and implemented.

  • Compliance and Standards: A significant part of your role will involve ensuring that all recommendations comply with relevant accessibility standards and regulations, such as the National Construction Code (NCC), and relevat standards docuemnts (AS1428.1).

  • Documentation and Reporting: You will assist in preparing comprehensive reports and documentation that outline the current state of accessibility, the issues identified, and the proposed solutions. These documents will serve as a guide for clients to implement necessary changes.

  • Learning and Development: As a junior member of the team, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced consultants, gaining valuable insights and expertise in the field of accessibility. You will be encouraged to stay updated on the latest developments in accessibility standards and practices.

  • Client Interaction: You will participate in client meetings to discuss your findings and recommendations, providing support in presenting the information in a way that highlights the importance of accessibility and the benefits of proposed changes.

By assisting in these areas, you will help create environments that are not only compliant with legal requirements but also truly inclusive, enabling people of all abilities to access and enjoy spaces without barriers. Your work will directly contribute to improving the quality of life for many individuals, making a positive impact on society.
